Departmental History
Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing was established on 28th November 1998. The department was first run by Daw Hla Shwe as a tutor from 30-11-1998 to 20-4-2000.Then, Daw Naw Gloripeh was appointed as Assistant Lecturer and She served from 21-4-200 to 15-10- 2000. After that, Assistant Lecturer, Daw Ni Ni Mar served from 1-10-2001 to 12-9-2002.Daw Khin Mya was posted as Lecturer and Head on 16-9-2002 and was promoted as Professor on 25th January 2007 and has served the Department till 9-3-2010. Since 10-3-2010, Daw Khin Thein (Lecturer) has been taking responsibility of the Department as Lecturer/Head. Daw Hla Shwe was posted as Lecturer and Head on 23-7-2012 and was promoted as Professor on 4-5-2017 and has served the Department till 28-2-2019. Since 7-11-2019, Daw Mya Mya Thaik has been taking responsibility of the Department as Associate Professor/Head.
Departmental Objectives
Department of Maternal and Child Health Nursing will:
1. develop well – qualified nursing personnel capable of competencies and skills in Maternal and Child Health Care.
2. perceive and implement the Standard of Maternal and Child Health Nursing Practice.
3. provide minimum essential package of Reproductive Health intervention.
4. recognize the students’ need and encourage for effective learning.
5. carry out the respective responsibilities and assigned duties.
6. recognize every staff’s responsibility for self development and upgrade new knowledge, skill and information technology.
7. cooperate and maintain good relationship within the department and others.
8. conduct nursing research activities under the guidance of Rector.
9. participate the activities outside the curriculum as in the ad hoc assigned activities as necessary
